Chocolate Chip Whole Wheat Waffles

Makes enough batter for about 2 big waffles…Basically to serve 1 person

3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

pinch of sea salt

about 4 ounces soy milk (or other nut milk)

1 tbsp canola oil or coconut oil

2 tsp maple syrup

2 tbsp chocolate chips

1. Preheat your waffle iron and spray with nonstick spray. In a medium bowl, mix everything together and whisk gently until incorporated.

2. Pour mixture into waffle iron and cook until golden.

3. Serve with hot maple syrup!

They were really really really good. Perfect for Saturday morning if you ask me. 🙂

    wait – does the 2 tsp of maple syrup get mixed in to the batter, or is that for serving on the side?

    I mixed it in and it was great. I did add a little more milk because my mix was really thick.

    This is now my favorite go-to waffle recipe. I use whole wheat flour and add a little bit more soy milk – works perfectly.

      I use extra dark giradhelli chocolate chips.
