Breaking It Down

December 21, 2009

Morning!

So, we sort of had the best party of 2009 last night.

IMG_3079.JPG

And I’m incredibly lame and didn’t really take photos. Let’s just say, there were 7 of us and we totally tore up the dance floor (aka the living room floor) until 2:45 in the morning. I’m actually SORE from dancing. Adam worked as a dj in college and has all this professional gear and we totally had the fog machine rolling as well as strobe lights and surround sound. It was amazing. And then, around midnight, we all sat in a circle and exchanged/tasted all of our hot sauces. Seriously y’all, have a hot sauce gift exchange party. You’ll never know what hit you.

Speaking of not knowing what hit me, Rocky made me my first ever white russian:

Have I not lived before?
I didn’t really drink very much last night (um yes, I can totally break it down on the dance floor totally sober) but this was delicious.
And I totally didn’t get home until almost 3 in the morning….CRAZY!
***
This morning I slept until 8:15 and then made some oatmeal for breakfast:

IMG_3085.JPG
I used 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, 1 banana, 1/2 scoop protein powder and 1 tbsp almond butter. Just so everyone knows, I do not “melt” my almond butter. It’s just runny!
My mama just made the perfect cup of tea and we are just sitting chatting; she’s been up for hours and has already done her daily yoga in my living room. Me, not so much. I need to get my yoga in today….at some point.
Be back!

Jen (Running With Cake) December 21, 2009 at 8:52 am

Home at 3 AM then up at 8:15 AM? How do you do it? Must be the wonderful California climate. A hot sauce party sounds like a “smokin” time, but not for the faint of heart or stomach ;-)

Sarah December 21, 2009 at 8:56 am

Hot sauce exchange is a great idea and the party sounds like a blast! Have fun with your Mom!

Lindsay Perrone (goodiesgalore) December 21, 2009 at 8:58 am

You totally melt that almond butter.

eatmovelove December 21, 2009 at 9:00 am

Sometimes you can’t always or shouldn’t take pics haha!
Sounds like a blast. Glad your mom is in. I’m jealous – sad Xmas and just constant work makes for no fun or shows. :( such is life right ?

VeggieGirl December 21, 2009 at 9:00 am

DEFINITELY a blast! :)

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is December 21, 2009 at 9:00 am

I love white russians! But sometimes I think it is gross drinking milk + booze..lol. Have a blast with your mom!

Evan Thomas December 21, 2009 at 9:02 am

Sounds like a fun night

Estela @ Weekly Bite December 21, 2009 at 9:03 am

Ahhh, the memories of White Russians! Looks like a great time!

Leah December 21, 2009 at 9:07 am

White Russians are GOOD arent they? I havent had one of those in forever!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) December 21, 2009 at 9:07 am

I love hot sauce! I’ve been putting sriracha on everything lately (egg whites, hummus, veggies, grilled cheese!). I think that food and good times with friends make the best gifts :-)

Lauren @ louisianagrown December 21, 2009 at 9:09 am

Definitely the most random part I’ve ever heard of – fog, strobe lights, and hot sauce? You guys are seriously hilarious, and I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that one.

katherine December 21, 2009 at 9:10 am

A hot sauce party sounds fabulous, what a great idea!

Ali @ Food, Fitness, Fashion December 21, 2009 at 9:13 am

Christie @ Honoring Health December 21, 2009 at 9:19 am

Wow, sounds like the quite the party. I am glad you had such a great time! You are a wonderful example of how to just grab life by the horns and go for it.

Julie @savvyeats December 21, 2009 at 9:23 am

Have fun with your mom!

Mama Pea December 21, 2009 at 9:25 am

Aren’t all Russians white? Strange name, awesome drink.

Brittany December 21, 2009 at 9:25 am

You’ve never had a White Russian until last night???- oh my!! So glad that you finally got to experience on of the best drinks ever invented!!

A hot sauce exchange party sounds awesome.

Erin December 21, 2009 at 9:26 am

I love nut butter in oatmeal and mix it in until it’s all melted so there’s a little bit in every bite. Yum!

Karla December 21, 2009 at 9:28 am

What a fun party!
I hate white russians. My first hangover was from white russians… the thought of them makes my stomach turn!

Stephanie December 21, 2009 at 9:29 am

My boyfriend loves loves loves white russians – and i have to agree, they are truly a treat!

Abby December 21, 2009 at 9:31 am

I went to a similar hot sauce party last year, except the host ended up introducing hot sauce shots about halfway through. Now if it was an almond butter shot, I might indulge. As for a shot of burn-your-insides hot sauce? Not so much :)

Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen December 21, 2009 at 9:32 am

How awesome is it that you had a dance party? Sounds like a fun night, and the White Russian is now on my list of things to try!

Chelsea December 21, 2009 at 9:33 am

7 is the BEST size for a party!!! The first time I ever got drunk was from BLACK russians-Kahlua and Vodka-hold the cream!

Allie December 21, 2009 at 9:37 am

how can it not have been fun if a fog machine was involved?! hot sauce- what a great idea for a party!

Vanilla Swirl December 21, 2009 at 9:37 am

Yeah, I agree…

You totally melt that almond butter. x)

Happy Holidays!

Shannon (The Daily Balance) December 21, 2009 at 9:44 am

so much fun!

enjoy your visit from your Mama!

Kristen @ Change of Pace December 21, 2009 at 9:53 am

White russians are so goooood! Almost like chocolate milk… Glad your mom is there! :)

Marion December 21, 2009 at 10:14 am

Wow. Okay, so I’ve been a long time reader and thought Adam looked familiar. Turns out he and I have some mutual friends from Austin / Nashville. Small world indeed!

Danielle (Coffee Run) December 21, 2009 at 10:15 am

Sounded like a fun night- I like that you don’t have to be drunk to break it down on the dance floor :)

Nicole @ Geek Turned Athlete December 21, 2009 at 10:19 am

A hot sauce party?! Now, I’ve heard everything! I’m glad you had a good time!

brandi December 21, 2009 at 10:30 am

Have fun with your mom!

theemptynutjar December 21, 2009 at 10:41 am

Wow, you have starting off the holidays so spectacularly. That is so great. I basically am forgetting about it ! But you are totally absorbing life and soaking up family and friends for all its worth, no excuses, that is the absolute best approach. No wonder you are so happy and successful :)

Megan (BitesoftheApple) December 21, 2009 at 10:42 am

Liesl December 21, 2009 at 12:35 pm

So sad you hadn’t had a White Russian before…major yum!! Well now you know you can die happy!

Jenny December 21, 2009 at 6:00 pm

I was wondering why your almond butter looks like that and mine looks entirely crunchy? I get the kind from whole foods that they grind there. what kind do you use?

Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) December 21, 2009 at 8:30 pm

Your oats must be hotttt because that almond butter looks runnny – just the way I like it … how do you do that!!?

Ashley December 22, 2009 at 6:25 am

I was all about White Russians for awhile in college. They are still so YUM when I have them!! I love dance parties in people’s houses too…we had one after thanksgiving dinner and it was SO much fun!!

Beth @ DiningAndDishing December 22, 2009 at 7:21 am

I can’t find sugar cookie tea anywhere either!! Why do they make it so hard for us to get our hands on it!??
