Things got a little crazy in the kitchen today:
Wow. I can’t believe I just opened that picture up to the internet. Actually, I can’t believe I posed for that picture at all!!!!!! I was just feeling incredibly giggly and saw these HUGE kitchen tools so I knew a blog picture had to be taken. I laughed so hard I cried actually.
ANYWAYS!!!! Let’s do a quick recaparoo! For breakfast this morning I had my delicious banana pumpkin overnight oats
The mix consisted (per usual) of: 1/2 cup oats soaked in 1/2 cup water overnight. Mixed with 1/2 cup oikos, 1/3 cup pumpkin, 1/2 of a mashed banana and a big spoonful of almond butter….drizzled with agave, of course!
And then later this morning I had the bar that changed my life:
Ah yes, you might be thinking that I eat these all the time…..and why yes, I DO eat these bars all the time but today was first day I actually took the time to heat up the bar like the package instructs. OH MY GOSH. I was awestruck. Without words. My mouth was experiencing pure bliss…………..when heated, these amazing bars soften and taste EXACTLY like a hot chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven. Seriously. Even pure protein doubters (ahem Arielle) should try this because they taste nothing like the regular pure protein bars. They taste a million times better! It put me in an amazing mood for the rest of the day. Looooove it!!!
I also had this Tazo Passion tea, which I am obsessed with:
And then around noon (I was STILL pretty full from my bar….3 hours later!) I unveiled my lunch, which was incredibly random but I was pretty stoked about it.
I was doubting this lunch last night when I packed it. Whenever I try new things I’m always nervous they won’t fill me up and I’ll be left with 4 more hours of work and an empty stomach. But this combo, inspired by a reader’s suggestion, really did the trick! I baked the sweet potato at work in the micro (4 minutes) and then topped it with a half cup of whipped cottage cheese and sprinkled cinnamon on top. On the side, I had carrots and a big spoonful of peanut butter—a classic gliding calm combo!
I got some weird looks from guys at work but they always look at me weird when I eat my lunch since it’s always so “healthy” (jenna-food). This lunch energized me and filled me up perfectly….it also tasted GREAT! I will be re-creating this probably next week. SO SO SO much better than a boring sandwich!
I left work at 3:00 and snacked on a date stuffed with pb on my way to the gym….
Where I did a short upper body strength routine. It was short because my arms were a still sore from Body Pump on Wednesday and when I started lifting weights proved to be a lot MORE sore than I thought they were! I thought they could use the break π My quads are also SUPER sore from Body Pump + intense spinning class last night. Here’s what I did in the short half hour I was there:
5 minutes jogging on treadmill to warm up
3 sets of 21s with barbell—20 lbs
3 sets of lat raises—5 lbs, 10 reps
3 sets of shoulder press—12 lbs, 10 reps
2 sets of triceps pulldowns (only 2 sets because I realized my triceps were SORE!)—50 lbs, 12 reps
3 sets of incline press—30 lbs, 10 repsΒ
After the gym I snacked on an oikos on the way home:
Today at work I baked a new batch of pumpkin whoopie pies because Ryan has been wanting to try one for months!
Flourless chocolate cakes:
Amazing focaccia (I brought home a loaf today!):
Along with the usual rolls and pies. We were cut short today because we did a massive hour long deep clean, where I scrubbed, mopped and polished everything in our station. It was actually a workout in itself!
Ryan is on his way over here and should be here around 7:30! Betty is making dinner and we are having grilled shrimp, chicken and veggies (bell pepper, mushrooms and onions). She also made a dessert that I think Ryan is going to love——–“Incredibles”, which are her famous version of homemade Reeses peanut butter cups. Don’t freak out everyone, I will get the recipe tonight and post it with my dinner post either late tonight or in the morning! I have yet to taste it but saw it in the fridge and, well, they look pretty incredible. π
Tomorrow we are going to play golf at the yacht club’s golf course (employees get to play for free hehe) and my dad is actually driving over to play with us as well. Hopefully it will be a gorgeous day and I’m looking forward to spending it outside….even if I just drive the cart and don’t actually play golf. I will post again either later tonight or tomorrow morning!
Have a wonderful Friday!

November 21, 2008 at 4:27 pmWith all that wonderful food info, the thing that stuck in my mind most from your blog was that you are able to play golf. Please give us a thought or two here in the N.E. where it’s a whopping 25 degrees – severe weather expected! Have a great time… don’t get too hot.

nikki, it’s in the baking isle grocery stores, by the canned cherry filling, just make sure you don’t get “pumpkin pie filling” on accident!

“Incredibles” sounds like an apt name for a homemade Reese’s.
