Get Warm With Amy

December 8, 2009

Good morning!

Well, this morning I woke up at 5 a.m. with a start and after laying in bed for an hour trying to fall back asleep I just figured it was useless and decided to get an early start to my day. Does that happen to anyone else??! I think I finally caught myself up on sleep and now I’m back to normal.

Had an early breakfast as well!

My favorite! I used 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, 1 small banana, 2 tsp maca, 1/2 scoop protein powder, cinnamon and pumpkin butter….it hit the spot.

It’s FREEZING outside and what better excuse to give away soup???!

We love Amy’s over here at ELR and apparently they love y’all. So much so that they have offered to giveaway a gift pack containing three soups to one lucky reader. You’ll get what I’ve been enjoying for the past couple weeks—the chunky tomato bisque, fire roasted veggie and hearty Spanish rice and bean. All three are absolutely delicious!

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite holiday tradition :) I’ll pick a random winner tonight when I get home from dinner and post it in the morning.

Tis the season!

My favorite holiday tradition is going to the ‘midnight’ service on Christmas Eve (it’s really at 11pm), then coming home and drinking egg nog with my family in the living room in front of the lit tree into the early morning hours of Christmas Day!

My favorite holiday tradition is when my dad and I get up before everyone else in the house and go run the neighborhoods looking at all the christmas lights. It is peaceful and quiet and refreshing. It is nice getting a workout bright an early, but even better is that it is an hour’s worth of great father daughter time and we can spend the rest of the day enjoying the time with the family.

Erika December 8, 2009 at 8:15 pm

p.s. forgot to mention we do this on xmas morning :)

I’m starting a new one this year as I am away from former friends and family again and trying to find my way in life. That is to be thankful to the Lord for giving me what I have and not to covet what my ‘neighbor’ has. We are all unique individuals and should be thankful everyday for the riches we do have. My favorite Christmas tradition is setting up the tree on Black Friday and watching the confused look on my cats’ faces! I swear, every year on tree set-up day, they question my sanity.

Jill December 8, 2009 at 8:26 pm

ahh buying presents and then wrapping them while listening to Christmas music and sipping on some hot chocolate!

Amy’s is honestly the only soup I eat! I just love the healthy varieties and delicious flavors!

My favorite holiday tradition has to be putting up the Christmas tree every year. I love stringing the lights and hanging ornaments with my family. It always feels like Christmas once it’s up!

Nicole December 8, 2009 at 8:39 pm

My fav holiday tradition is on christmas morning, going to my grandmas for her famous home made cinnamon buns, the yummiest thing in the world!

My family and I drink eggnog and watch “Christmas Vacation” (the Chevy Chase movie) while decorating our tree. I miss it so much now that I’ve moved away.

I love to bake so it’s no surprise that Christmas baking is my favorite holiday tradition. From childhood through college I would go to my Grandma’s house and we would bake cookies all day. We made sugar cookies, chocolate drops, maple logs and everything in between! I like to continue the tradition now even though I am far away from my hometown.

Erin December 8, 2009 at 9:22 pm

My favorite holiday tradition is watching Charlie Brown Christmas over and over…I always put it on while I’m wrapping gifts and decorating!

My family and I have a tradition of making an amazing gourmet dinner (Prime Rib) with lots of wine!!! We normally have neighbors over and we go talk about what we are Thankful for in our lives :)

My favorite holiday tradition is a toss up between 1. Going to the Christmas Tree Farm to cut our Christmas tree (hot chocolate and all) 2. Making homemade teacakes with my mom and sister on Christmas Eve and then decorating them with royal icing with the whole family that night!
So many wonderful memories.

My favorite tradition is making traditional fudge at home with my mother, and giving it away to all of our family and friends on Christmas Eve :)

Nicole December 9, 2009 at 6:07 am

Watching the kids open one gift on Christmas evening. My sister’s and I did it when we were younger so its great to watch the tradition continue to the next group.

Dawn December 9, 2009 at 6:12 am

On Christmas morning, after looking through our stockings, my mom cooks up a breakfast of (in my case vegetarian) sausage gravy and biscuits. So freakin’ good – hands down the best breakfast of the year.

my favorite holiday tradition is the party we have every christmas eve with some close relatives. we bake lots of amazing appetizers all day while listening to christmas music. after we get home from church, the party begins and we eat the amazing spread, laugh, and play games. that day is just as special as christmas to me and after we have amazing leftovers for the rest of the week!

Valerie December 9, 2009 at 8:24 am

My favorite holiday tradition is going to Candy Cane Lane. It’s a few blocks of houses here in a suburb of Milwaukee where all the homes are elaborately decorated for the holidays. Traffic moves very slowly through the blocks, but it’s great because it supports cancer research. There is a Santa in the middle accepting donations and giving out candy canes!

Jessica December 9, 2009 at 8:30 am

Christmas tree decorating!!! Although I never get to partake in that tradition when i’m away at school :(

But I still love coming home to the decorated casa even if I didn’t have anything to do with it!
