Growing a Bread Baby
June 20, 2009
Well we had a perfectly lovely day today, despite the off and on again showers! It honestly felt GOOD though because it was so hot by the pool and neither one of us minded the occasional cool sprinkle.
Until it began to rain rather hard and we took that as a sign for a little break. Ryan made a sandwich and watched Sportcenter and I did a 30 minute core yoga download from yogadownload.com . I always forget how hard this class is—it really works that tummy! Of course after the yoga interlude it was time for a snack. I whipped up some juice first—-

My absolute favorite—green apple, beet, ginger, celery and carrot
And had another one of Ange’s homemade granola bars straight out of the freezer.
Twas the perfect snack! The sun came back out then and we headed back outside for another hour or so of reading and relaxing.
For our anniversary date night, we ended up choosing BJ’s because it was right next door to the movie theater where we had our gift cards. Here’s the anniversary outfit—
And the anniversary merlot (and man)—
We were quite hangry when we arrived so we immediately ordered the bruschetta appetizer……definitely not the healthiest option but WOW was it ever amazing!
I don’t know about yall but when there’s a plate full of hot doughy bread in front of me I tend to attack. To ward off eating the entire plate, I portioned two (thick) pieces out on my plate and topped them with a ton of yummy bruschetta topping—-
There are some things in life you should just never say no to.
For my entree, I chose
the garden medley salad topped with blackened salmon with the dressing on the side. It was a very
Fitnessista inspired meal—thanks, Gina!
WOW, was this ever tasty. The salmon was cooked exactly the way I like it and the seasonings were perfect. My date ordered the pepperoni pizza!
Ryan unfortunately does not like pizza crust and I have ZERO self control when it comes to crust………….
Yep, I almost ate all his crust. I just couldn’t say no! But between the bruschetta & the crust
I was too full to even finish my salad, which was a pity since it was amazing. Now,
four hours later and I am STILL stuffed, which never happens so I know I must have gone a bit too crazy on the carb front. Do I feel guilty about my choices?
Not in the slightest. Ryan and I rarely go out to eat anymore and this was a special occasion, obviously. Plus, to me, living life to the fullest means not passing up hot, chewy pizza crusts and doughy bruschetta once in a full moon. I know I rarely eat like this and one night of carb-heaven isn’t going to do anything! This is the great thing about eating really clean 80% of the time; you have that 20% spot for delicious splurges such as this! Tomorrow we shall be back on the wagon!
Off to sleep off my food hangover. Nighty-night!
ps–movie was HYSTERICAL!!!!!!!!!! At one point I felt tears coming on. I SO needed that kind of laugh!

Oh the bread baby.
Mine is usually an oats baby. Both mean some delicious eating happened not too long ago!
I love bread too! Glad you enjoyed it and happy belated anniversary
Hi Jenna – you look adorable as usual
I have a question about your juice – do you peel the beet before you jucie and if so how do you peel it? I am farily new to juicing and to beets, but I got some beets from our local farmers market this weekend for the purpose of juicing and and not sure how to proceed. Thanks so much.
