Here We Go Again…

Hey guys!

This is like the quickest post ever because I’m in the middle of…what else…MOVING!!!! Tonight was really the only night Adam could help me move the bed because the rest of the week is crazy so there it was! Before craziness began I snacked on some yogurt + puffins + raspberry jam:

IMG_8350

We fueled up at the Healdsburg Bar & Grill before utilizing major bed moving muscles. Adam brought me my favorite for a house warming present! awww

IMG_8352

I LOVE Liar’s Dice! ๐Ÿ™‚

I had the falafel pita and it rocked + a small glass of Liar’s Dice…didn’t want to get too sleepy before moving a queen sized bed down stairs and 4 blocks away to my new place!

IMG_8353

And that was that! We got the bed moved and it JUST fits in my new room. We didn’t think it would (or, correction, Adam didn’t think it would) fit but…yep…..”cozy”. Riiiight ๐Ÿ˜‰

The bad news is that while carrying the box spring, I totally twisted my ankle and its swelling up. Yeahhhhhh sort of had a tiny breakdown in the car….I can put weight on it but I can’t rotate it at all and it just feels really loopy. I’m going to put some ice on it and take some advil in a bit after I get this next load down. Sort of freaking out just a tad since apparently I’m running 13.1 miles Sunday morning.

More bad news: my new place doesn’t have internet just yet. I have to call Comcast to come out probably on Thursday. Till then, I will be blogging of course but it might be random and at odd times. Please bear with me! I promise this is the last move till we are all set and going strong for good. I’m just going to have to pitch a fort in the local coffee shop or at work with wireless. No worries!

One more HUGE load to make then I think I’m good to go for the night. Wish me luck!

Yay, I’m glad you got a new place! I just realized that since you’re from Florida, it usually rains in the summer. Well, here in CA winter is our rainy season! So you just moved from rain to more rain. No worries though, it is beautiful here about 95% of the time.

Hey Jenna, dont get discouraged about your ankle, I used to roll mine all of the time in basketball when I was in high school. If this is your first sprain it is very painful, if you can find an athletic trainer or someone who can tape ankles just tape it the morning of the race. If they do a good job then you should be okay to run, in the meantime just keep trying to move it, even if it is painfull. Hope it heals quickly ๐Ÿ™‚ and good luck Sunday!!

As you already know, experiences of twisting your ankle while moving into a “cozy” apartment make the journey more fun and interesting in the end. You are such a great example of a smart young woman finding her niche and pursuing her dreams.

Good Luck Jenna! I’m definitely hoping that your ankle is totally healed after you ice it tonight. And I’m excited to see the new place- just remember, a smaller home is less to clean! It’s so true, and really I think that smaller places are much cozier, especially when flying solo. You’re going to feel so great and really “at home” once you finally get all moved in and used to the new job, new town…

    It’ll all be worth it!

So sorry for your ankle :(. I know all about a bed barely fitting in a room. Two years ago, my husband, two cats and I were living in a 450 square foot apartment filled to the brim with furniture. My grandparents came to visit and said the poor cats had to strategically plan their steps and wondered how we did it! I look back on it now as a really great time where we grew a lot. Now we’re spoiled with 3 times the size! Enjoy it and make a lifetime of memories there :).

Sounds like things have been pretty hectic in the last weeks! How do you stay on track with healthy eating and fitness when you’re stressed out and running around with so many things on your plate? I know when I have a deadline to meet for work, I lose sleep and miss a few workouts, and get right back into things after wards, but know that I could have done better.

But it sounds like things are working out! I’m originally from Northern California and I’m so envious of the awesome new direction your life is going. You deserve it! Chin up, and I’m sure things will settle down soon. Until then, you’re handling things like a pro!

    Jenna,
So sorry to hear about your ankle. If you can get to a health food store or Whole Foods pick up some homeopathic Arnica and take it internally. It will really help your body speed up the healing process. Hang in there, you are doing great through this transition time.

So! Since your bed moved, did you actually spend the night in your new place? And does it have HEAT?? Yay!

Ice and elevate the ankle, take Advil for pain, and see how it goes. You may need to wrap it for the race, but chances are you’ll be okay…you just may not get a run in before the race. The rest is more important.

You’re almost settled. Take a deep breath, it’s all going to be fine!!

I hope your ankle feels better! I hate getting injured right before a race. Here are a couple things I did when that happened to me: During the day, be sure to use ice around the area because ice helps to reduce swelling.
Exercise your ankles gently. This will assist in circulation and muscle activity. Exercise includes gently rotating your foot, flexing, tapping and massaging. Rest your leg on a bed and hold your foot near your toes. In a circular motion, gently rotate your foot. If this is too painful, you can instead flex your leg a couple of times.
Use ankle wraps. These wraps act not only as support to your ankle, but also as a way to lightly compress the area and reduce the swelling. Ankle wraps may also help further cushion your foot and ankle while walking.
    Hope this helps!
