It Was Super Healthy

November 5, 2009

Hellooo!

Hope everyone had a lovely Thursday. I’m super excited because I have a crazy fun long weekend ahead of me with all my awesome food bloggie friends in San Francisco at the Foodbuzz Conference!!!!!! Wahoooo!!!! I leave first thing in the morning actually because I have a meeting in the city at 10 a.m. I’m excited to be there and explore….I think San Francisco and I could be very good friends. ;)

As for today, brought a chicken sandwich to work with carrots and an apple. Pretty basic but it was made delicious with these homemade bread and butter pickles (not homemade by me but by this local farm stand), laughing cow cheese and leftover rotisserie chicken on Stroehmann whole wheat bread.

Snack was a hot n healthy pure protein bar but…don’t hate me…I totally forgot to take a picture! I was busy at work and it went from purse to hand to mouth all too quickly.

Dinner was a lot more enjoyable.

This would be a “super healthy burrito” from a total hole in the wall Mexican joint. I cracked up because they actually had a segment on the menu called “Healthy Items”. The “super healthy burrito” was actually quite delicious and was filled with veggies, rice and beans…no cheese! It definitely could have used some cheese and guacamole but…what can I say? It was super healthy. ;) It was also HUGE and I only ate half…naturally smothered in all the crazy hot sauce I could find.

I got really hungry not long after (it really wasn’t that filling…) and grabbed a banana + dark chocolate chips—

It’s almost midnight and I still have a list of stuff I have to get done tonight before tomorrow…including packing!! There’s a probable chance that I will NOT be blogging in the morning before I leave because I’m sort of paranoid about getting to the city on time and, therefore, leaving quite early. I will though touch base once I’m there before all the foodie action begins!

See you tomorrow!

candice November 6, 2009 at 3:04 am

Don’t worry, I’m more interested in your delicious-looking burrito than your snack. ;) Nothing cures hunger better than a banana with chocolate chips!

christie, honoring health November 6, 2009 at 3:12 am

Wooohooo! Can’t wait to read all about the fun at the FoodBuzz conference!

Have a great trip!

Have fun this weekend!

Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) November 6, 2009 at 3:35 am

Nothing like a mega-burrito. In San Francisco’s Mission District, there’s a ton of great places to find delicious burritos the size of your head (of course, to split with a friend :) ).

Have fun at the Foodbuzz event! I wish I could go, but alas, 3,000 miles is a bit of a trek for me at the moment. Foodies, unite!

Kasondra November 6, 2009 at 4:06 am

not just “healthy,” but “SUPER healthy!” haha

eatmovelove November 6, 2009 at 4:21 am

I love that your lunches are just basic with “old-school” sandwiches and stuff – I love different creations and stuff too of course, but it’s nice to see that I don’t just take a supposed “lazy” route :) Have fun!
As a side-note, if anyone on here runs or is getting back into it &/OR does yoga…I’d love your feedback on my site – I’m getting back into running and have no goals set…but not sure how much mileage, etc. I should be doing, how to ease back into it…
I also started Yoga Teacher Training…and haven’t been able to get much practice in with work/running/’life’. Ugh. Thanks :)

megan November 6, 2009 at 5:32 am

This will be a fun weekend to read about on all the blogs :) Your burrito looks great, but I think the sandwich looks even better. Isn’t leftover rotisserie chicken the best? I find so many great uses for it

Kelly from Bridges and Bites November 6, 2009 at 5:45 am

Wow, I wish I could be at that food conference! So excited to hear all about it though!

hahah it’s always funny when places make healthy menu sections–but super healthy? new level :)

Julie @savvyeats November 6, 2009 at 6:41 am

Ha, that’s cute that it was actually called the “super healthy burrito.” They certainly aren’t ones for subtlety ;)

laura dishes November 6, 2009 at 6:43 am

Love the super healthy burrito! I’m glad that it seemed healthy… I hate it when a place advertises something as healthy and it’s actually covered in grease or something like that!

Have so much fun this weekend!

Carolyn November 6, 2009 at 6:54 am

Good luck with your trip!!

Kris November 6, 2009 at 6:58 am

Have fun! I think foodbuzz will be a little less intense than BlogHerFood. I don’t see a Roco lunch on the agenda. LOL. Enjoy the weekend in the city!

WendyF November 6, 2009 at 7:03 am

If you get down to the ferry building have a blue bottle coffee, its one of my favorite roasters.

That burrito looks really good! should’ve gotten some guac though…that’s the best part!

Samantha November 6, 2009 at 7:09 am

I love when you can find food that is known for being “unhealthy” or “bad” and it has been made healthy! That burrito looks like it was amazing, but I would have dominated the whole thing! have a great flight!!

Hi! Love your blog!
This weekend, if you have a Bank of America credit or debit card, you can get into some SF museums for free. I’ll be at the De Young, but the Legion of Honor, Museum of African Diaspora and Contemporary Jewish Museum are also participating. I’m sure you are going to be super busy, but if you’ve never been to the Legion of Honor, I highly recommend checking it out (it is my very favorite). The program is called “Museums on Us” if you want to look it up for more info. There’s also a coffee place you might like called “Cafe Trieste” in north beach that has the best espresso I’ve ever had in my life. Hope you have a great weekend in SF!

Have fun at the conference! I’m so jealous of everyone who is going!

i pack a lunch everyday that looks just like that! but im surprised you use ziploc and tinfoil!! try different sized tupperware containers. OR, i recently just got into bento boxes. i ordered one on http://www.iloveobento.com. it was $4.99 and had 3 stackable containers – perfect for packing a combination of healthy and yummy lunches/snacks. plus, it gets washed and put away, so no damage to the environment :)

Tami November 6, 2009 at 8:21 am

Have fun and if you have time go to the Ferry Bldg Market Place. On saturday they have a nice Farmer’s Market. Lots of good eats inside too.

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) November 6, 2009 at 9:21 am

I love bananas and dark chocolate chips! There’s store in my hometown that sells frozen bananas dipped in dark chocolate and peanut butter and then rolled in crushed almonds. SO good :-)

Tay November 6, 2009 at 10:04 am

That burrito reminds me of the burrito I LOVE at a local Mexican place. It’s called “Low-Fat Burrito”. Yes, that’s the name. I always feel so weird ordering it or talking about it. Why is it low fat? I guess b/c no cheese? And it comes with the healthier stuff (black beans, brown rice, etc). But I order it because it comes with the most delicious mango sauce EVER!!

Amanda @ Cakes and Ale November 6, 2009 at 12:36 pm

I’m such a fan of SF… one of the best US cities… after Chicago, of course!
