My Daily Adventures

March 9, 2010

hey!

Trying to be productive!!!! This morning I pulled myself together and had a great two mile run followed by lunges up and down my street, 30 push-ups and 60 crunches. We had to cancel our group workout at the studio because Anna had too many errands to run so I had a makeshift one outside on my own. It was sunny but COLD. Thank goodness for wunder unders (I just like saying the word “wunder under”).

After my workout I grabbed a cappuccino and ate the rest of my breakfast grapefruit. Whole milk makes all the difference in cappuccinos….I shall never go back to anything but!

Lunch was TJ’s tomato soup with an open faced hummus and avocado sandwich + a big ol’ carrot!

I ate the soup too fast and totally scalded my esophagus. Now it feels like I have a bad sore throat. :(

After lunch was when the daily procrastination set in. I took about four walks downtown, mopped my floors and made applesauce oat bran muffins out of Veganomicon ;)

Finally, around 4:45 I decided what I really needed was a glass of vino to get the words flowing. Or at least that’s what Caitlin said I needed. I trust her opinion on these matters.

Done and DONE. 1,000 words just like that. Well, not really just like “that” but you know….
Had a few Morningstar farms buffalo wings (love these) plus a huge spinach salad with hummus, salsa and goat cheddar for dinner—

Plus another crack bar for dessert…..on top of my new book that I got on one of my many walks this afternoon. The girl standing next to me was talking about how her book club was reading it so I figured it was worth a try…plus, it was on clearance for only $8.99!

Guess who’s running a 5K next weekend???!

img_5638.jpg
Gosh, I am SO EXCITED!!!!!!! The race is in Napa at a winery next Saturday morning and my friend Michaela is also running it. I haven’t run in a race in almost a YEAR and I can’t wait. I’m a little worried because Michaela said “its a gorgeous run but very, very, very hilly”…..not quite sure what that means. Hills are not my friends. But I figure I can make them work for 3.1 miles. I need to get new headphones because mine are broken and for the past few months I’ve been listening to music out of one ear only. Hmmm
Okay. I need 1,000 more words to make it to 50,000. It.is.ON.

Yummy muffins. Your race next week sounds like it will be a good one.

You will kick that 5 K’s booty! Guaranteed.

Yum to the muffins/spread…I swear, I would eat carbs/fruit all day long if I could. *sigh*

Awesome about the 5K! Tip for hill running: when going up shorten your stride and take shorter quicker steps. When going downhill enlongate your stride and let the hill carry you. HAVE FUN!

Congrats on finishing 1000 words. I know wine used to always get words flowing for me too…but in a different way. Think college party days ;)

That does sound like it will be a pretty and fun run for the race this weekend. And like you said, I bet you will have no problem cranking out those hills for a 5K.

I’ve tried the Morningstar Chick’n nuggets; those ARE good! I need to go pick up some more for the “Meatless in March” I’m doing! Good luck on your race! I’ve been wanting to sign up for one too…as motivation :>

Ahh so exciting to be getting back to racing. I’m running a 5k the last weekend of this month; they keep running so much more exciting!

I’m so excited that you get to run a 5k! :) Can’t wait to see how it goes, good luck! I’ll be praying your shins don’t act up on those hills!

I also fully support the fact that wine makes writing easier. I think we question every word too much normally, but a little wine and we just let the words flow! ;) Glad you’re so close to 50,000!

Educated Guess is one of my parent’s favorite wines! Actually the only wine my dad ever drinks (he’s more of a beer man!). Yay for races! You will do great! I have been eyeing those crack bars ever since Polly posted them but am a little hesitant to make them seeing as I have a hard time self control around treats like that! Haha :)

Vino makes everything better!

Good luck with your 5km! That reminds me I need to go for a run – now where are my running shoes??

Katy March 18, 2010 at 2:35 am

I want to have the figure you have so that I can going running in little shorts like you! I cover up when I go running because everything jiggles too much, haha. Oh, and that book looks interesting!
