Happy Friday!
Now, I’d consider myself a pretty big nutella lover. There was a time in college when my roommate and I would sit and watch Lifetime movies with a jar of nutella between us and a box of graham crackers on my lap. That was fun.
I also have enjoyed more than a few nutella crepes in my day. In my mind, there’s really not much better than a warm crepe filled with oozing nutella and maybe a few banana slices.
But nutella hot chocolate?
How I have lived on this earth for almost twenty six years without trying such a thing? How have I dared to call myself a true nutella lover without trying this simple heavenly creation?
If you’re anything like me you look for every excuse to eat a spoonful of nutella. It pretty much goes on anything from oatmeal to graham crackers to fingers. I can’t get enough of this stuff.
On to nutella hot chocolate. All you need are two ingredients—nutella and milk! Well, and whipped cream. But that’s a given.
Nutella hot chocolate tastes like regular hot chocolate, but with the subtle hint of hazelnut. I absolutely love it, especially alongside a few linzer cookies.
Make this tonight. It’s a much better option than beer and will leave you feeling wonderful and lively in the morning to boot!
Quick and Easy Nutella Hot Chocolate

Whisk nutella into milk and bring to a simmer on the stove. Serve in your favorite mug with whipped cream and marshmallows.
Nutella, I love you.

January 28, 2011 at 5:02 amI know this is sacrilegious but I don’t really like Nutella. I’m weird. However, I really want that hot chocolate, and more specifically I want to drink it out of that mug. And only that mug!

January 28, 2011 at 5:16 amI actually don’t like Nutella! To be honest, I’m not a big fan of Hazelnuts. It’s crazy how simple this ‘recipe’ is for nutella hot chocolate though. I’m sure lots of nutella lovers will be happy to see this.

January 28, 2011 at 5:17 amOh my God, Jenna I love you! I never, ever thought of this! I’m a Nutella and spoon kind of girl so this will go down a treat tonight with me and my step-daughter. My daughter who loves Nutella but doesn’t like hot chocolate might like this too.

January 28, 2011 at 5:46 amOh my word! I could write a collection of sonnets declaring my love for Nutella. This recipe is so easy – I can’t wait to try it. My favorite way to abuse, er, eat Nutella is on a toasted crumpet. The Nutella gets all ooey-warm-gooey and practically drips all over my chin when I bite into the crumpet. Love!!

January 28, 2011 at 5:55 amOhhhhhh….. I cannot wait to try this tonight!
I’ve been experimenting with homemade hot chocolate this winter. Since I live in NY, we’ve had our fair share of snowy evenings that just call for it! That or a chocolate martini…
I’ve had some hits (made with steamed milk and rich milk chocolate) and some misses (made with semi-sweet chips and a dash of cayenne pepper) but I think this one may be just the ticket!!
Now where did I put your recipe for homemade marshmallows?? 🙂
PS: Oddest Nutella pairing to date? I had it on a salty garlicky bagel… It was AMAZING!

July 31, 2012 at 7:49 amI’ve been gazing longingly at your recipes for days now, wishing I had more time off from work to try some (read: all) of them, and I just happened upon this one. It was funny to me because I also happened upon this recipe myself last winter, and my hot chocolate preference is forever changed.
I was attempting to make some nutella and peanut butter fudge (delicious) but I ended up just pouring the nutella and milk into a mug and reading all night. The only differences to note are that I used vanilla soy milk, and I sprinkled the top with cinnamon.
If that’s not heaven, I don’t know what is.

February 5, 2013 at 9:09 amYou are a genius! : )
I was scouring my cabinets last night looking for a way to make hot chocolate — with no cocoa powder in the house. Little did I know, there was an alternative right in my pantry the whole time! Thanks!

July 10, 2013 at 11:00 amMy grown son LOVES Nutella. He discovered it years ago when he was a company officer for Lufthansa Airlines and spent a great deal of time in Germany. He now lives in Scottsdale, AZ . I sent this recipe off to him this morning even tho temperatures there are in the 100’s right now! Arizona’s lovely Fall will come soon and he’ll be building a fire either in the fireplace or the fire pit and this would make the perfect treat and a surprise for the lovely Michele! And, when the snow starts falling here in Oklahoma I’ll be making it for my grandkids!! Thanks for a great idea!!!
I don’t care anymore. And it’s a good thing. | Dreamer.
