You Guessed It

So, this morning I’m going to share some very very VERY exciting news with y’all that has been close to my heart for awhile.

First of all, let me preface this by saying it is VERY HARD TO KEEP A SECRET ON THE BLOG!!!!! I feel like I share a huge chunk of my life on here and that’s why, for over two months now, I’ve been bursting at the seams to tell you guys the latest development in my life.

Of course, what would I be if I didn’t weave the whole story into it?

It all started in mid-August when I was in Vero Beach visiting Christie and working at the cupcake store….remember?!

This was way before I decided to move to California and I was sort of at a spot where I had no idea where my life was going. You know when you feel like you are on the brink of something totally awesome happening but you just aren’t there yet? That was how I felt. I felt STUCK.

And then I got “the email”…….

I literally started screaming in the cupcake shop!

And then, just last month, I flew out to NYC to finalize the deal….oh, the mystery!

So yes, I’m going to confirm now what a bunch of you have already guessed………

I GOT A BOOK DEAL!!!!!

My book will hit bookshelves in Spring of 2011 and I honestly keep pinching myself wondering if this is really happening. I mean, honestly, this is all I’ve ever wanted and the fact that it’s now coming true not only excites me more than anything but also scares me to death!

The book is going to be a memoir with recipes-–of my time in culinary school and living in Paris. It will be about 250 pages and will be found in the cookbook section of Barnes and Noble.

I still can hardly breathe when I think about it. This is coming from a girl who used to sit in the cookbook section of the bookstore for HOURS and read recipes when she was….eight. I mean, I practically have all of Alice Waters books memorized. All my life I’ve wanted to be an author and I feel so incredibly blessed with this amazing opportunity.

How did I do it? The found me! I’m working with a wonderful publishing company in New York and, surprisingly enough (haha), they found me from the blog. Seriously, the email from them came 100% out of the blue when I was so frustrated with my life and not feeling like I was going anywhere. Everything happens for a reason, and there couldn’t have been a more opportune time for this to occur. Like I said, I just am so blessed and thankful and still can’t even believe it’s all going down.

I guess I need to buy a desk?
